“If you are looking for a Monday night Merlot, look no further.”
2015 Decoy Merlot Sonoma County USA
This wine is crafted of 92% Merlot, 4% Cabernet Franc 2% Cabernet Sauvignon, and 2% Petite Sirah sourced from Sonoma County.
It poured a medium ruby with purple hues into the glass and opened with medium aromas of soft red and blue berries, violets, soft notes of baking spice, a touch of earthy forest floor, and trailing vanilla. This is a medium body wine that offers balance in medium- tannins and acidity, it is smooth, pleasing and easy to drink and enjoyable with or without food.
Decoy Merlot is a soft, well-structured expression of Merlot. Although it lacks the complexity of the flagship Duckhorn Merlot, it is a pleasant drinking wine in its own right. It is designed to be opened and enjoyed, and is ideal for a weeknight meal such as homemade chicken and rice soup, pizza, and Taco Tuesday.
